Jürgen Höller (CTO of Interface 21 and co-founder of the Spring Framework project) will hold a presentation about the new version of Spring in the Java EE 5 and OSGI World and will explore the strategy for the next major release Spring 3.0.
Spring 2.0 introduced bean definitions based on XML schema as well as AspectJ integration and support for the Java Persistence API (JPA). Spring 2.1 builds on that established foundation, providing further special-purpose configuration namespaces, closer integration with AspectJ, support for JCA 1.5 connectors, and closer integration with various runtime platforms. In particular, Spring 2.1 explicitly supports Java 6, Java EE 5, and OSGi environments.
