Datomic is a modern database designed by Rich Hickey, the creator of Clojure.

Datomic uses modern distributed storage engines for durability without sacrificing transactions. It allows flexible data modelling with minimal schemas without giving up joins.
Finally, it treats the content of the database at each point of time as an immutable value granting all the benefits of functional programming to durably stored data.

The query language of Datomic is a variant of Datalog, a language that was pioneered in the 1970s and has similar expression power as SQL.
